The cities of Egypt, particularly the larger cities, the Egyptian deities were often grouped together, to form either a high council of deities or family of deities in which they believed to form the basis of their religion. Often such groupings centred around a triad of deities, particularly in the formation of father, mother, child (usually a son). These are most form of groupings, and can be found in most cities in Egypt.
There are many Egyptian cities, however, four cities in particular has such grouping are noticeable. These cities are –
- Heliopolis (Egyptian Iunnu),
- Hermopolis (Egyptian Khemmu),
- Memphis (Egyptian Ineb-hedi),
- and Thebes (Egyptian Waset).
I don't think it is possible to list all groupings of deities in other cities, since each city may have their own deities, so I have concentrated on these four cities.
As I stated above, there are too many cities in both kingdoms of Egypt, to list all the gods in one group or another, particular when some gods are more popular than others, so that their popularity are more universal.
